John and Anthoula Fragopoulos established Fishco Downunder at Belconnen Markets in 1997. With the help of their children, Tony, Catherine and Nicholetta, and the support of their valued customers, the business grew to three retail stores and one wholesale depot by 2013, acquiring a fresh new look and a name change to FishCo Fish Market, along the way.

Today, we own one great superstore, FishCo Fish Market at 19 Dalby St, Fyshwick.  It’s a fresh fish and seafood emporium!

Our aim is to supply the largest variety of fresh fish and seafood, as well as smoked, frozen and live produce, at the best possible prices.

Having been in the Fish and Seafood industry for over 40 years, John has developed a reputation for reliably purchasing the best quality seafood at the lowest possible price. He does this by personally visiting  fish markets and suppliers to hand pick the best produce.

Our suppliers are located all over Australia.  We buy from Sydney Fish Markets and direct from fishermen/co-ops and Aquaculture farms.  Australian Aquaculture farms are some of the best in the world and produce high quality  Salmon, Barramundi, Prawns, Lobsters and Oysters to name a few.

We are constantly seeking new products and reliable suppliers to add to our wide range of seafood products. All our suppliers are Quality Assured and guarantee that the products we offer are of the best quality and value for money.

We are guided by Australian Fisheries Management Authority and Good Fish Bad Fish when sourcing our stock.  We support sustainable fishing.

Our priority is customer satisfaction.  As a HACCP approved business, quality assurance and Food Safety is paramount to our success.  We follow best practices within our store and cold chain to ensure the quality of our produce from sea to your dinner plate.

We are Seafood Industry (Aquaculture) trained and Certified: we ensure humane care and management of our Live stock.

We are Food Safety and HACCP accredited: we ensure all staff comply with best practices for food safety and management.

We are industry leaders: we have developed the FishCo method for processing fish (gutting, filleting, etc) and customer service and provide intensive induction training for all staff.

Our family participates in all areas of the business with a particular focus on Customer Satisfaction and Quality Control. This ensures that our high standards are maintained and our Customers receive the best choice, quality and value for money available – every time.
